The Cause

The Oasis Golf Tournament was created by Jonathan Schneider in 2015 with the goal to send children affected by cancer to a one week getaway at Camp Discovery. Camp Discovery is a camp that provides an oasis full of outdoor activities and group fun where the children can escape the everyday challenges cancer inflicts on them and their loved ones and just let them be kids. Jonathan's mission was to continuously grow funding to pay for as many trips to camp as possible. To date, the Oasis Golf Tournament has sent over 200 kids to Camp Discovery.

Jonathan was born March 20, 1990 and raised in San Antonio, TX. He graduated from Tom C. Clark High School in 2008 and Texas Tech University in 2013. He was a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity and loved nothing more than spending time with family, friends and his pup Pooch.

In February of 2015, Jonathan began showing signs of what was thought to be vertigo. After extensive testing and MRI scanning, a biopsy discovered a Grade 4 Glioblastoma brain tumor. Following his diagnosis, Jonathan underwent traditional treatments like chemotherapy and radiation as well as alternative methods in nutrition and holistic cancer-fighting approaches. Through it all, Jonathan never quit.

During his fight, Jonathan inspired everyone he met. His infectious personality and positive outlook was nothing short of motivating to all those who knew him. Today, his legacy lives on in the philanthropy he set into motion with the Oasis Golf Tournament, sending more and more children with cancer to Camp Discovery each year.

Jonathan's strength and character through his battle is something to be revered and remembered by all. He continues to inspire his friends and family every day and will always be our hero.

"To love!" - JKS
